The Agriculture Department of the Velocity Interoperability Network has been formally established. The Department is responsible for farming standards, plant and animal health and rural services across the Network, and maintains the register of agricultural holdings on which those functions depend.

At establishment the Department takes over the agricultural functions previously exercised by member organisations. During the transition period from 10 August to 5 September 2026 those organisations transferred their holding records, inspection files and veterinary and plant health arrangements to the Department, and 4,218 holdings covering 312,600 hectares were entered on the register.

With its establishment complete, the Department today launches its official website at agriculture.gov.vin. The site carries press releases and official statements, the farming standards and the results of inspections, guidance on reporting notifiable disease, the opening arrangements of the Department's rural offices, and statistics on land use and holdings.

Further announcements regarding the Department's inspection programme, its advisory and training services and its quarterly reporting will be published in the Newsroom as they become available.
